Strong winds on Oct. 24, 2021 resulted in waves splashing against the Ogden Point Breakwater.

Strong winds are in the forecast on Thursday and Friday for the North Island, prompting a wind warning from Environment Canada.

Southeast wind is expected to reach 90 km/h due to a “very strong” frontal system crossing the north coast.

The winds may cause damage and are expected to occur Thursday morning and again on Friday afternoon.

“Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur,” Environment Canada says on its website. “High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break.
