Victoria Clipper ferry service between British Columbia's capital city and Washington's largest city is not expected to resume until July 3.

The resumption of scheduled of the Victoria Clipper ferry service from Victoria to Seattle has been pushed back.

Clipper Vacations, operators of the Victoria Clipper, announced that because of the extended border closure between the U.S. and Canada, scheduled ferry service between British Columbia’s capital city and Washington’s largest city is not expected to resume until July 3.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said the federal government has reached an agreement with the U.S. to extend travel restrictions on non-essential travel across the border between Canada and the United States by another 30 days.

The Victoria Clipper is now scheduled to run daily sailings from Friday t0 Monday between July 3 to July 31, before returning to daily seven-day weekly sailings starting Aug. 1 through to Jan. 3.

“While the business impact continues to be dramatic, we’ll be ready to return to service as soon as the border re-opens and Vancouver Island is prepared once again for non-essential travel,” said David Gudgel, chief executive officer of Clipper Vacations. “In the meantime, we are continuing to revise and prepare our operation plans for a safe and healthy return of crew, staff, and customers.”

Clipper Vacations is owned by German company Förde Reederei Seetouristik.
