Saanich Police are investigating a crash involving a minivan and a motorcycle on Tuesday evening.

It happened around 7 p.m. on Tillicum Road at the intersection of Arena Road/Maddock Avenue.

Three people have been taken to hospital including the driver and a passenger in the minivan, and the motorcycle’s rider.

There is no word on the extent of their injuries.

One witness says he heard the crash and rushed to help the motorcyclist and stayed with him until paramedics arrived.

“He complained about his leg, it was clear his femur was broken,” said Luke Champagne.

“I said you’re lucky to make it out of here, hopefully, with just a broken leg and some road rash, he had pants on and along sleeve shirt on and a helmet, good thing he was wearing his helmet.”

Saanich Police are still trying to pinpoint the exact cause of the crash.

“We’re still trying to determine if a vehicle turned in front of the other, or how that took place,” said Saanich Police Sgt. Martin D’Anjou.

Tillicum was closed for several hours between Burnside and Obed.
