Tens of thousands of people are expected to descend upon Cook Street Village for the neighbourhood’s annual block party this weekend.

The Cook Street Block Party is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 9.

A large section of Cook Street, between Oscar Street and Park Boulevard, will be closed to vehicles as it transforms into a pedestrian-only marketplace, complete with vendors, food, live music, dog races, and other activities and games.

More than 125 vendors are participating in the block party, and there will be a family zone as well as an alcohol-licenced area along the street.

The annual event usually attracts around 20,000 people, but this year vendors are expecting more to arrive.

More information about the vendors can be found on the Village Block Party social media pages.

The City of Victoria is warning visitors that vehicle traffic, and bike traffic, is expected to be heavy in the area on Sunday.

It adds that Cook Street between Oscar Street and Park Boulevard will be closed before and after the event, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, for set up and take down.
