North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP is seeking the public’s help in identifying suspects in two investigations, one where someone allegedly caused damage to school buses, and the other a break-and-enter.

On Aug. 24, Queen Margaret’s School located at 660 Brownsey Ave. reported “extensive” damage to its buses that occurred overnight on Aug. 23 or 24.

A suspect was caught on camera walking onto school property, walking towards the lot where the buses are parked and damaging the buses.

The suspect is described as a man between 16-30 years old, slim build with long hair, wearing a baseball cap, shorts and a t-shirt, and carrying a backpack.

Editor’s note: CHEK News has sought clarification on the date the incident occurred. RCMP says the incident occurred overnight on Aug. 23 or early morning on Aug. 24, however, the timestamp on the security camera footage states Aug. 23 at 1 a.m. This story will be updated once clarification is received.

On Sept. 4, another suspect broke into the TD Canada Trust at 1-351 Trans Canada Hwy in Duncan around 9:30 a.m. As this was Labour Day, the bank was closed and no one was inside at the time.

The suspect allegedly stole banking equipment and is described as a masked individual wearing a Bugs Bunny hooded sweater.
