A 32-year-old man is facing multiple charges after he was caught by Saanich PD inside a building that had its security alarm activated.

According to a Saanich Police Department press release, officers attended a building located in the 700-block of Tolmie Avenue at around 4:30 a.m. on June 28 after receiving a report that its security alarm had been activated.

When they arrived, officers found a man inside the building holding some mail that belonged to a business.

“The mail he was in possession of belonged to the business he was inside of. He was also in possession of some electronics that investigators are trying to determine the ownership of,” Const. Markus Anastasiades of the Saanich Police Department, said in the release.

An unidentified 32-year-old man from the Greater Victoria Area was taken into custody and is now facing break and enter and theft of mail charges.

The man has since been released and is expected to appear in court in August, according to the Saanich PD release.
