North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP have arrested three men accused of severely injuring another man.

The incident happened at a house on Alexander Street in Duncan. A call to 911 at 5 p.m. on Friday evening alerted police.

BC Ambulance took a victim to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police, at this point, are not revealing how the man was injured.

Information led Mounties to get a search warrant to a home on Youbou Road in the Cowichan Valley where they arrested two of the suspects. All three of the suspects were in custody Friday.

Neighbours say there was a police presence at the Youbou-area home until Sunday.

Police say they believe the incident was drug-related and targeted. Two of the three suspects are being held in custody.

Court records show James Otis Downey is facing one charge of aggravated assault. He is in custody awaiting a bail hearing March 5.

Mounties say more charges are likely and they will release more information Thursday.
