The City of Victoria is working on plans to replace Crystal Pool, but the cost has not been determined yet.

Recently, the city missed a deadline to apply for $6 million in gas tax grants from the Union of BC Municipalities, but Mayor Lisa Helps says it is an annual grant that can be applied for every year, and the city is simply not ready to apply for funding.

A location has to be chosen first, Helps said.

The previous $70-million proposal for a new pool in Central Park was not favoured by North Park residents.

The city is now working on alternate sites, including the parking lots at the Save-on-Foods Memorial Arena and Royal Athletic Park.

More information will be made public when city staff report back to council in two to three months.
