No criminality suspected after body found in Cowichan Bay

RCMP say a body was found in the Cowichan Bay area earlier this week, but that no criminality is suspected.

Residents spotted search and rescue boats and a helicopter in the area on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.

In a statement Thursday, RCMP told CHEK News there was a search in the area that led to the discovery of a body, but that no foul play is suspected.

The BC Coroners Service was notified and is working on their own investigation, according to RMCP.

Mounties say they will not be releasing further information for privacy reasons.
