BC Hydro says 1,428 customers in Nanaimo’s Departure Bay neighbourhood are without power due to downed lines.
The outage affects customers east of Mountain Vista Drive, north of Townsite Road and south of Bay Street, which includes Brooks Landing and Terminal Park Shopping Centre.
Power has been out since about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Nanaimo Fire Rescue told CHEK News a power line fell onto the ground in the 1400-block of Departure Bay. The cause of the downed wire isn’t clear.
BC Hydro says crews are on scene and that power is expected to be restored shortly before noon.
