B.C.’s courthouse workers are used to dealing with sometimes messy situations but what happened at the Nanaimo courthouse this morning was completely different.

After 10 a.m. a sewage pipe burst in the ceiling above the criminal court files.

Several court workers scrambled to move the files but couldn’t avoid the mess themselves.

At least two of them ended up going home to shower.

The courthouse manager says only a small amount of files were impacted. The pipe burst happened in the portion of the building constructed in 1957.
