Island Outfitters shared about 30 photos on Facebook Wednesday of fire damage to the Saanich business Jan. 4.

The owners of Island Outfitters in Saanich are providing a look at just how bad the store was damaged in an early morning fire a month ago.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, the business shared numerous photos of the destruction inside the building at Douglas Street and Cloverdale Avenue, and a few shots from the exterior.

“It has been very hard on all of us here at Island Outfitters. We have missed our valued customers immensely,” the post said.

The blaze started around 6:30 a.m. on January 4 and Island Outfitters said nearly a week later its entire inventory was destroyed.

Fire officials said the blaze started in some exterior storage sheds at the rear of the building.

There were no injuries, and a cause of the fire is still unknown.

Island Outfitters says it is looking forward to attending upcoming events, including the Victoria Boat Show Feb. 21-23, and will keep customers posted on its future.

“We want to sincerely thank you for your outreach and support over the last month. Insurance is a timely process, and although we do not have a set time frame yet, we will be re-opening and getting back to the business we all love.”
