Air ambulance called after crash between motorcycle and car in Port Alberni

Two people were taken to hospital, including one who was flown by air ambulance, following a crash between a motorcycle and car in Port Alberni on Saturday.

The crash occurred on Highway 4 near Broughton Street around 9:55 a.m., according to the Port Alberni Fire Department.

BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) says two ground ambulances were called to the scene and picked up two patients.

“Critical care paramedics subsequently transported one of the patients by air ambulance to hospital,” said BCEHS.

The westbound lanes of the highway, as well as one eastbound lane, were closed for several hours as emergency crews responded to the scene.

Around 2 p.m., DriveBC said the highway had reopened.
