A fire in Memorial Park in Esquimalt is under investigation and is believed to be arson, according to Victoria Police.
Saturday evening, Esquimalt Fire Rescue responded to a brush fire in the park, a spokesperson for the Township of Esquimalt said.
“The fire was deemed to be suspicious and VicPD is also now involved in investigating,” the statement from Esquimalt said. “A tree and nearby shed were affected.”
Victoria Police confirmed to CHEK News that officers are investigating the suspicious fire and it is believed to be arson.
No other information was available, but officers will be canvassing for CCTV footage in the area.
