The walk-in clinic at Colwood Medical Treatment Centre closed on April 15, 2022.

Almost two years after it closed, a walk-in clinic in Colwood is set to have a soft re-opening in mid-December.

The walk-in clinic at the Colwood Medical Treatment Centre closed on April 15, 2022. On Dec. 15, 2023 it will have a soft re-opening with a full reopening of its walk-in clinic in the spring.

Doug Kobayashi, mayor of Colwood, says this came as a collaboration between the city, the ministry of health, and the Westshore Primary Care Society.

Then, on July 1, 2023, the remaining family doctors at the clinic relocated to Langford, leaving Colwood with zero walk-in clinics, and zero family doctors.

“We’re bringing that back, we lobbied the provincial government and they responded,” Kobayashi said. “We will be opening a walk-in clinic, it’s a soft opening on the 15th of December. We haven’t really announced it because of the fact that we still need to get more doctors.”

The team behind the opening had been aiming for a soft opening of Dec. 1, but renovations went behind schedule moving the opening later in the month.

When it opens, the walk-in clinic will be open Monday to Friday for urgent care needs.
