The City of Nanaimo is calling on artists and designers of all skill levels to submit their design proposals for its street banners.

According to the city, the banners, which will be hung along Bowen Road, Third Street and other major routes, will help create a vibrant visual presence in Nanaimo’s Arts District downtown area.

Mayor Leonard Krog says there’s no better signalling of spring than the Street Banner Design Program.

“We look forward to once again showcasing the talents of a local artist as we celebrate arts and culture being visible and accessible throughout the city,” Krog said.

For next year’s theme, artists are asked to design banners based on the concept of metamorphosis and change in nature, the community and the world at large.

Entrants should be currently living in B.C.

The deadline to submit applications is Monday, August 26, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. PST.
