A motorcyclist has died following a single-vehicle crash near Durrance Lake in Saanich on Thursday evening.
First responders, including police, firefighters and paramedics, were called to the 200-block of Willis Point Road shortly after 5 p.m.
At the time, BC Emergency Health Services told CHEK News that one person was taken to hospital in critical condition.
On Friday, Saanich Police said that the 55-year-old motorcycle rider died of their injuries while in hospital.
“Our condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased,” said Saanich Police in a statement.
Willis Point Road was closed for several hours after the crash. Police say a collision analyst probed the scene, and while the cause of the crash is still under investigation, early indications point to speed as being a factor.
