Saanich police say a man in his thirties was arrested following search warrants on two residences in Greater Victoria, where officers seized a “significant amount” of illegal drugs, a loaded firearm and cash.

On Thursday, April 25, Saanich Police’s street crime unit, with help from West Shore RCMP, executed the warrants in the 800-block of Drummond Way in Colwood and the 2300-block of Millstream Road in Langford.

Police say the Island District and Greater Victoria emergency response teams were also involved in the search, which resulted in the seizure of illegal drugs, including 1.5 kilograms of methamphetamine, 1.2 kilograms of fentanyl, 0.5 kilograms of cocaine, large quantities of GHB (gamma hydroxybutyrate) and steroids.

Together, the drugs’ street value is estimated at more than $200,000, according to Saanich Police in a news release Wednesday.

“In addition to the drugs, $55,000 in Canadian currency was seized, as well as a loaded nine-millimetre firearm known as a ‘ghost gun,'” they said.

Police add that a man, 35, was arrested and later released pending charges, and that the department’s investigation into the matter continues.
