The BC SPCA branch in the Comox Valley is looking for someone to give a long-term resident their forever home.

Last week, staff said they were looking for someone to take home Oso, a roughly four-year-old Kangal shepherd dog and German shepherd mix who has been at the BC SPCA Comox Valley & District Branch for more than 250 days.

Staff describe Oso as a “large, loving and goofy” guy who has “absolutely stolen the hearts of the staff who care for him.”

The SPCA is hoping that someone who has a home with no other dogs can take the roughly 110-pound home, and who can help him with his reactivity to other dogs.

“He can be quite reactive to them, and is seeking an owner who understands this, and can help him associate seeing other canines in a positive way with his training process,” said the SPCA.

“A home without dogs directly on the other side of the fence would be best, so Oso has the chance to be comfortable in his home without feeling the need to be on guard.”

The SPCA says Oso loves playing with his toys, tossing them up in the air and tumbling around outside. He also greets his human friends with “adorable woos and kisses” and likes to give daily snuggles, often leaning up against people for scratches.

“Oso loves car rides and adventures where he can sniff away and would really enjoy an active owner who can keep his brain busy, and offer him lots of mental enrichment,” said the SPCA.

Anyone interested in adopting Oso can contact the BC SPCA Comox Valley & District Branch at 250-339-7722.
