Victoria police say two people have been arrested following a weapons call in the 200-block of Gorge Road East, near Washington Avenue.

Police say officers, including members from the GVERT (Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team), responded just before 8 a.m. Wednesday, June 26.

“Two people were arrested, and it looks like the file has been transferred to our general investigation section (GIS),” a VicPD spokesperson told CHEK News.

“I don’t have further details to share at this time…”

A CHEK News reporter captured video of police blocking off a stretch of Washington Avenue.

An armoured police vehicle was also parked on scene.

GVERT has 14 members, who are called out to assist police in Greater Victoria “when the potential risk of harm to the public or the police is assessed at a level that warrants the deployment of the team,” reads a post on Saanich Police’s website.

“The team is available 24 hours a day and has safely resolved a large number of potentially dangerous incidents.”

Wednesday’s incident comes a day after VicPD and RCMP executed a search warrant at a Bear Mountain home for a drug trafficking investigation.
